This rum sauce recipe is easy to make and goes well with our Simple Cajun Bread Pudding | When Grandma Ruled the Kitchen. Try it--you will love it.
Ingredients
- 1 cup evaporated milk
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. cornstarch
- 3 Tbs.butter
- 2 oz. rum
- 3 or 4 drops food coloring
Instructions
- in a double boiler add milk, butter, sugar and heat to almost boiling
- dissolve cornstarch in a small amount of cold water and add to the hot mixture
- continue cooking until mixture thickens, then remove from fire
- add rum and food coloring
- stir together well
